This October, Blenheim Palace will go barking mad for two days of tail-wagging fun as it hosts DogFest on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October.
In partnership with Agria Pet Insurance, the high-energy weekend will bring together dogs, their humans, and a vibrant festival atmosphere in one of Britain’s most spectacular settings.
Expect pup pyrotechnics, splash-happy diving pools, live music, expert-led training sessions, artisan shopping, and gourmet street food — all dedicated to celebrating man’s best friend.
This year, visitors can also expect an extra touch of magic as Blenheim Palace embraces its ‘Palace of Oz’ Christmas theme early, with the introduction of a Toto Lookalike Contest and a The Palace of Oz Fancy Dress Competition both taking place on Saturday 4th October from 1.55pm in the Fun Dog Show Arena.
Dog owners and their four-legged friends are invited to channel Dorothy’s iconic companion or go full Cowardly Lion, Tin Woodman, or Talking Scarecrow for a chance to win a family ticket to Christmas at Blenheim Palace, including access to the spectacular Palace of Oz immersive experience and the dazzling Illuminated Light Trail.
Throughout the weekend, the Fun Dog Show Arena will keep tails wagging with a joyful programme of informal contests, from ‘best trick’ to ‘waggiest tail’, celebrating the unique quirks and talents of the canine community.
Prizes donated by local pet businesses will be up for grabs, adding to the festival’s community-driven spirit.
DogFest Event Director Tess Drew says the expanded programme is designed to create memorable moments for the whole family.
“By introducing the Toto contest and The Palace of Oz fancy dress, we’re bringing an added layer of magic to DogFest this year,” she said.
“It’s a fun way to connect visitors with Blenheim Palace’s enchanting Christmas theme, while giving families and their pets a chance to shine.”
In addition to DogFest, Blenheim Palace have extended their Autumn Paws Outdoors event, where visitors can enjoy a new walk with their four-legged friends whilst exploring the Formal Gardens, Great Court and Walled Garden.
From 14th November 2025 to 3rd January 2026, Blenheim Palace’s ‘Palace of Oz’ will transform the iconic State Rooms into an immersive journey through L. Frank Baum’s fantastical world, while outdoors the Illuminated Trail returns with brand-new installations and spectacular seasonal displays.
Visitors can also take to the ice as part of the ‘Great Skate’ and visit the renowned Christmas Market.

Participation Rules – Toto Lookalike Contest:
- Comfort is key – Costumes must not restrict your dog’s movement, sight, hearing, breathing, or toileting.
- Dog comes first – Only enter if your dog is comfortable being dressed up and in a busy environment.
- Signs of stress = step back – If your dog shows any signs of discomfort, you may be kindly asked to step out of the competition by a DogFest team member.
- No face masks or full-body suits – Please avoid anything that covers your dog’s face or body entirely.
- Stay with your dog at all times – Handlers must remain in control and within reach.
- Welfare monitors on-site – Our dog behaviourist team will be present to ensure the dogs are happy and safe.
By joining the competition, you confirm that:
- Your dog is sociable and enjoys wearing light clothing/accessories
- You’ll prioritise your dog’s comfort over costume impact
- You understand and accept the terms above
